Essential Controls:
The OCR Engine reads the text. The Image Processing Mode prepares the image for the engine. You can mix and match them depending on the media source.
Important: This application does not provide built-in translations. For the best reading experience, install browser extensions such as Google Translate, Yomitan, or your preferred textโtoโspeech tool.
These extensions can instantly translate or read aloud the extracted text, making the OCR output much easier to follow.

These modes prepare the image for the OCR engine. They are NOT the OCR models themselves:

Choose your OCR Engine:
When PaddleOCR or MangaOCR are selected, the Image Processing Mode dropdown is purposefully bypassed โ they use their own high-fidelity pipelines optimized for neural network recognition. Switch back to Tesseract to use preprocessing modes again.
Use the AUTO button next to RE-CAPTURE to enable hands-free OCR.
How it works:

Heavy Model Initialization
This mode loads a large neural network (20โ80 MB) and may use significant CPU/GPU resources.
Note: On slower connections, the first load may take several seconds.
Large Model Download
This mode downloads a large Vision Transformer neural network (up to 450 MB) and is heavily optimized for reading perfectly square Manga panels. It may struggle with horizontal media interfaces.
Note: Models are downloaded entirely on first use and permanently cached locally for instant offline loading in the future.
